Re: airport delays - faro.

Just as a bit of balance we flew back into Manchester last week, and I have to say based on previous experience I was dreading it.

However, ten minutes off the plane we have done our 10,000 steps,...

Re: airport delays - faro.

To be fair a lot is up to the individual, personally I am now holidaying differently and avoiding places that are rammed out with Brit travellers, the Balkans is our overseas destination now (not...

When we purchased in Portugal some twenty odd years ago, flights were cheap, entry was easy,...

Re: Cabanas de Tavira

There was a spate of muggings there about five years ago with tourists targeted by two Portuguese blokes. A bloke I know took a beating and had his personal items stolen. Sadly it had a major affect...

Re: Driving from Bilbao to Lagos

Have always done the "straight down the west" toll free route.

We always stop roughly half way down at Bejar (Spain) not to be confused with Beja (Portugal)

Re: Bear With Me On This!

Yes, agree with your last part, however we usually book a house / apartment and getting contact info is quite difficult as they are usually only marketed through an agency like booking / cottages /...

Re: Bear With Me On This!

Nata, don't know if by planning or luck when we opened our account years back we opted for all mail to be sent to the UK. I think card validation is now a thing of the past with most banks, the only...

Re: Bear With Me On This!

Postscript.

Just been into Booking.com and you can change your currency to Euros so that leads me to believe I could indeed book from the UK and use my Portuguese Card with no charges.

Edit. We...

Re: Bear With Me On This!

Yes you are correct, a major bearing on the purchase is the currency it is offered in.

For instance if I book with say EasyJet or Booking.com from the UK the price will be displayed in Sterling....

Bear With Me On This!

Somebody may have the answer!

If I were to use my Portuguese Bank card from our UK address / email address it obviously knows we are in the UK and puts a charge on, fair enough.

However if I...

Re: Sale of property

Our estate agent also wouldn't raise a finger until all the EPC etc was in place. We had left Portugal by this time so had to put our trust in the agent. To be fair it all worked out well.

Having...

Re: Sale of property

I don't have a great deal of knowledge re tax on global income. Our solicitor told us about the inflation uplift and the accountant dealt with all the form filling / submission. The bottom line was...

Re: Sale of property

We shopped around and they were all pretty much the same %. We eventually went sole with the local to us agent. We paid 4% plus IVA. Obviously the estate agent costs are offset against any CGT.

Re: Sale of property

When we sold ours last year our agent seemed to hastily stop marketing the property on the basis of a verbal offer.

I reminded the lady that a property is not sold until money has changed hands. ...

Re: Algarve locations

Has there been a conscious effort to round up the stray dogs then? Is this something backed by the Authorities or just people doing it off their own back?

There used to be a fair number of them...

Re: Someone to fish cable through conduit

Unfortunately I have no experience of house cabling. Presumably though the cable is metal based.

Re: Energy certificate

When we sold up last year think it was circa 290 Euros.
