Re: CERB question

So I've finally managed to clarify with an agent who knew more about this.

So basically, if the foreign income is declared for tax purposes in Canada, then it can be used for the purposes of CERB...

CERB question

I did a quick search and hadn't seen this one pop up, yet.

Now does this mean I had to be "residing" in Canada when I earn the income, or does it mean I need to reside in Canada when I'm...

Re: car licence (ontario)

So to update on the original subject. When partner got hers changed to full G license, I asked about mine and they recommended I wait then change it for the full once 2 years is up, but did reinforce...

Re: car licence (ontario)

Johnsons accepted UK no claims, but ended up costing just as much as TD insurance, who didn't accept it. Johnsons also had a 25 minute wait time just to get a quote on the phone which wasn't...

Re: car licence (ontario)

Thank you for the info. We are going to head there tomorrow morning. Hopefully they'll accept just the card as evidence for her and exchange it for a full license. Got our eye on a car as well so...

Re: car licence (ontario)

Great to know. We have Bell and Ikea coming this afternoon, but hoping to make it to the DriveTest near us later if they come early enough.

Did they exchange the license there and then, or did you...

Re: car licence (ontario)

This is what I plan to do.

Partner is going to exchange tomorrow hopefully. Do they still 100% require DVLA printout of driving license info/history, or does the card suffice? Officially it says...

Bringing taxidermy glass spider

So I have an American Tarantula in a glass taxidermy thing. It's dead (obviously) and has been set inside with some kind of glue I imagine. Its an ornamental piece I guess. Sort of like this, but in...

Re: Toronto utility bills

The commute for us would be from Burlington/Oakville to the Western part of Mississauga, near Meadowvale West. From Burlington, it doesn't really look that doable by public transport, if google maps...

We are looking at Oakville or Burlington currently, so would also be interested to know this.

Re: Toronto utility bills

Some only include water and heat, but we still have to pay electric. I've read its quite a bit cheaper than in the UK but would be nice to budget accordingly.

Some of the apartments also don't...

Re: car licence (ontario)

Address is currently registered at family, which is also where i'd be living when returning for periods of time, so address doesn't technically need updating at this point, but I get the point you...

Hi all,

Just looking for to date rough utility costs that people spend each month based in Toronto region (don't know if it differentiates across Ontario?).

Re: car licence (ontario)

I don't intend to drive there until next year. Might drive a rental occasionally although that is doubtful. I'll be relying on public transport until such time that we can actually afford 2 cars and...

car licence (ontario)

Hello,

We'll be moving to Ontario in the next few weeks now. My UK licence will be 2 years in December, I'd rather wait for that 2 years before exchanging so I get the full license in Ontario and...

Re: Employer Attitudes

They advised that there was a company standard for vacation days, but also said she could ask for more during the interview process. I don't think they were/are able to find people locally who can do...

Re: Employer Attitudes

Pretty much got the reasoning there :) I'll just say no win no fee, to avoid the whole concept of us being naughty people. Not attending though would put us in contempt however, so it isn't something...

Re: Employer Attitudes

The only thing we are unable to budge on is the start date they have given, the rest we have pretty much accepted as is. It was the general attitude/response behind it that has put us off. I suppose...

I'm still not sure what photos they are even using at this point. If...

Re: PR Card Email

They have no address to send the card to, so ultimately it is pointless supplying photos (for the 3rd time) at this stage surely? Just apply for a PR card once I/we actually land and plan to stay for...
