Re: Spanish Residency for UK nationals after 31st December 2020

:britflag: This is why the OP should take his/her time. For comparison, minimum wage here in Canada is equivalent of Euro 10.00. Looney tunes. Annual 20,000. Zero skills. Plenty of people here would...

Re: Spanish Residency for UK nationals after 31st December 2020

"Your figure of 400,000 is both out of date and misleading but whatever the number is I'm at something of a loss to understand why it is you think Spain stands to lose them eitber before Dec 31st. or...

Re: Spanish Residency for UK nationals after 31st December 2020

Seriously - do you think Spain will prevent UK nationals or other wealthy expats from retiring or living in Spain after December 31? Why would they do that? And what about the 400,000 Brits that are...

More tax questions

After searching both here and on the Google, I still haven't been able to find definite answers on several tax questions;

For Modelo 720, it seems like most foreign private pension principal...

Re: If you relocated to Spain what were your reasons for that?

Wannabees in Spain will be welcomed. There will be a minimum income / wealth requirement. If Spain doesn't do this, other warm climate countries will fill the void. Spain won't be left behind on the...

Re: If you relocated to Spain what were your reasons for that?

I have read the OP posts here and on the PT forum. I spent a great deal of time researching PT tax laws and NHR, but in the end I realized that tax should not be the defining reason for a move....

Re: UK Pension

I think this question is the main reason you need to speak to a qualified Portuguese tax accountant. Every country is different, but I would expect they can go after you for all back taxes, interest...

Re: Porsche / Classic Car maintenance in Algarve

Perhaps not a surprise that the Porsche franchise dealer in Faro is not a prize business given the eye-watering taxes on cars. Effectively Porsche prices are double what I pay in Canada (Porsche fan...

Re: Still more NHR questions

Hello Red Eric: I just wanted to offer the option of keeping recommendation private, if the poster wanted that. If and when I get to the solution to my situation, I will share it here.

Re: PT tax on used cars from EU

Thanks for the replies - sounds like you stand to get a nice chunk of change back on the road tax. I guess I won't be seeing a change to import duties any time soon.

May be wishful thinking on my part - but has there been any movement from Portugal on taxation of used cars from EU? The last I read they were being taken to court in Brussels over their failure to...

As mentioned earlier, probably best to wait until legislation is passed. But for me at least, this article looks like good news. My pension is taxed at source (Canada, 15%), so with the dual taxation...
