Re: PR Card Renewal Timescale

Thanks for sharing, I'm likely going to be doing this later in the year. Current processing time for PR cards as listed on IRCC's website is 58 days so yours was pretty quick.

Re: PRTD Processing times London 2023

Not too recent, but my PRTD in May was exactly three weeks between submitting the online application and getting an email notice from IRCC that it had been approved.

It then took another week to...

Re: PRTD - online application

I did the online PRTD process a couple of months ago. It was exactly three weeks between submitting the application and getting an email from IRCC confirming that it had been approved.

Beyond the...

Re: Advice on PR Renewal whilst living with Canadian Spouse in U.K.

As christmasoompa says, you need to apply for a PRTD, or Permanent Resident Travel Document.

I am also a UK citizen living in Britain with a Canadian partner, and I've twice successfully applied...

Re: PRTD multiple entries

Sure – what I sent was basically a scaled down version of the docs I submitted for the original PR application. So I sent in the following:

Photos of us together over the past few years (around...

Re: PRTD multiple entries

I can't speak to that, although from IRCC's point of view it might make some sense – you wouldn't need PRTD if you have a valid PR card.

The one positive thing with having a 'gap' is that in my...

Re: PRTD multiple entries

I'm in a similar situation (living long-term outside Canada with Canadian citizen partner and not planning to return for a few years) and I've successfully applied twice for a multi entry PRTD – the...

Re: PR Renewal - Do you need 'certified' copies for passport and PR card?

When I did a PRTD application last year I submitted standard colour photocopies which weren't certified, so you should be okay doing similar.

Re: Passport renewal during visit back

On the EU layover – there could be an issue as entering the Shengen area requires citizens of third party countries (i.e. non-EU) to have at least six months left on their passport before expiry.

"If you’ve never been to Ottawa, don’t bother. Of all the G7 capitals, it’s one that hardly conjures up much in the way of attractive images. Don’t believe me? Try it." – Tyler Brule. Bit rich coming...

Re: PR 730 day rule

Mildly off topic, but do you know how they work out the dates when you leave Canada, given that the country doesn't do exit checks? Do they get the information from airlines?

(just to be clear,...

Re: Entering Canada without PR card via the Peace Bridge (or any land crossing)

You're probably right. Bit of a pain having to go through the process of PRTD application followed shortly after by one for a PR card – although I guess everyone who uses PRTD has to do it, and the...

Re: Entering Canada without PR card via the Peace Bridge (or any land crossing)

Thanks for your reply, christmasoompa.

I've been out of Canada for most of the past five years, and you're probably right that it'd be a risk – a CBSA agent might not have the ability or...

Entering Canada without PR card via the Peace Bridge (or any land crossing)

I'm a PR living outside of Canada with Canadian partner; have had a multi-entry PRTD since earlier this year but expires in March next year.

We'll be returning to Canada but not until most likely...

Re: Permanent Resident Travel Document – any recent application experience?

At the time I did it the requirement was to send the passport, along with the application, proof of fees paid to VFS & IRCC, photos, consent form etc., to VFS.

I got the passport couriered back...

Re: VAC consent form for PRTD

I did my PRTD a couple of months ago and filled in the section stating that I was willing to provide biometrics – but you're right, it's not a requirement and you shouldn't be asked to provide them.
