Re: Article 50 signed and delivered

You are young by my standards. But your last 2 sentences are wise.

Re: Amazon says no to Souq.com

It looks like Emaar stepped back and let Amazon cough up a half-billion or so in
"the biggest-ever technology M&A transaction in the Arab world".

Re: Another UAE QROPS firm has permissions suspended

Isn't this 25% charge going to kill the QROPS market?

Re: Investment options for 2017

There is the school of thought that "buy-and-hold is dead". People like myself who follow it are mugs. Fodder for the smart money. The argument goes that the only way to make money reliably from...

Re: Investment options for 2017

I think that you must also be a sophisticated investor because:
a) how many people have even heard of ETNs
b) how many people could understand them after reading the wikipedia explanation?

I...

Re: Offshore Bank Account

As the forum's best poster (IMHO) will no longer comment, it's time to summarise this discussion.

Let's say you have a million dirhams in cash, a 5-year period and a 2% interest differential. If...

Re: Offshore Bank Account

No, it's a personal economic decision weighing up the pros and cons. For me, the offshore option is too expensive.

I'm quite willing to be enlightened by rational argument. Not getting that so far.

Re: Offshore Bank Account

The same is true for Barclays Channel Islands. It was a GBP20 monthly charge if the balance was below 25k. When I topped it up, they said you still have to pay until you've had 6 months at 25K ...

Re: Offshore Bank Account

You can get 1.75% to 2.5% or so in the UAE. Not great but a hell of lot better than the two thirds of bugger all that I get on my UK offshore account.

Re: Diet Plan

Re: Investment options for 2017

That's the conundrum. Nowhere is without risk and the low risk options provide little return.
