It looks like Emaar stepped back and let Amazon cough up a half-billion or so in
"the biggest-ever technology M&A transaction in the Arab world".

Am investigating. They are tiny though. To put things in perspective, they had raised a total of 8m. Souq was over 300m.

Rumour is noon. At a small premium.

By all accounts noon is struggling to get going. Some of the funding has been pulled and they have been changing senior teams. Start ups evolve, they are not assembled.

I have used a few times recently as souq annoyed me with crap return policy when they messed up shipping...

Jadopado had a really good service in Dubai 3-4 years ago. They only sold new electronics items themselves and delivered the same day in Dubai in their own little jadopado vans. At the time they were different class to souq as they only sold second hand like dubizzle. Jadopado then also opened up to merchants on their site a few years ago.

Souq have really taken off to be fair in the last few years and built on selling for others and handling the shipping and web presence.

I have some of the inside track on why noon did not get souq, but nothing on the internal struggles of noon.
