FREE WILLS on offer - Is there a catch?

We recently tried to make some amendments to our wills and was surprised to be quoted almost the price we paid for the original wills.
Searching online for some alternatives we found a site which...

Re: Brit debating taking job offer in Canada!

I've never heard anyone describe Toronto as stunning.
It's a building site with a few good bars and restaurants.
Massively overpopulated and not very pleasant.
Your salary will enable you to live...

Re: Decent curry in GTA

Not yet, it's a bit out of my way but I'll try and get down there soon.
Why do you ask?
Do you live local?
Have you tried it?

Re: Decent curry in GTA

I'm used to Indian and Bangladeshi curries made in the UK
I tried the Coriander Green in Oakville at the weekend, it was pretty good although not as spicy as we like even though we asked they spice...

Decent curry in GTA

You'd think with all the Indians and Pakistanis in and around the GTA there would be one decent curry house but it's almost impossible to get a good curry anywhere.
Anyone else having this problem?...

Re: a recent Pearson experience

Awful place, always avoid when possible.
Last time we flew in from London it took about 2 hours in total from stepping off the plane to getting in the car.
They'd mixed up a load of bags from an...

Re: Video from an angry immigrant on why not to move to Canada

The average wage in Ontario according to 'Dundas Life' is $55k but outside the GTA it's much lower.
I'd say the average house price is at least ten times that so the gap is widening. Many have given...

Re: Video from an angry immigrant on why not to move to Canada

I agree with a lot of what he says..
The only way to make a small fortune in Canada is to arrive with a large one (and watch it disappear)
We're digging into our savings just to stay afloat, many...

Re: Groceries

I was back in the UK recently and noticed how cheap groceries are compared to Ontario.
Stuff like fruit and veg, tinned goods, cosmetics, take away food, snacks, dining out - all way cheaper at the...

Re: How long to feel Canadian?

How did this thread move onto a discussion about vaccinations?
I notice even Brexit gets a mention...lol
Anyway, to continue with my original topic, I bought a big jar of Maple syrup recently and...

Re: How long to feel Canadian?

Some good answers.
I don't really do much 'Canadian' stuff.
Not a big fan of skiing, don't watch ice hockey, never go in Tim Hortons (rubbish coffee and bland food) although I have found myself...

How long to feel Canadian?

At work yesterday I was chatting with a Dutch guy in his 70's.
He's a citizen and has been in Canada since his late teens but still says he's Dutch.
When do you start to feel Canadian?

Re: 24 years but who would go back to the UK?

The population of the UK has increased by around 11 million in the time you've spent in Canada.
For a country the size of Canada that wouldn't be too much of a problem but for the UK it means crowds...

Re: Toronto Homicides

So true.
We only go there for work, do the job, get out straight away, never stop over anymore. It's a really ugly place too.
It's changed so much the last ten years, don't feel comfortable there..

Re: Canada Recce Trip Advice

And you have to factor in the Euro - $CAD exchange rate has sunk from 1.56 at the start of Covid to around 1.29 now.
So, if you're selling up to come and buy here you've got a lot less in the bank..

Re: Canada Recce Trip Advice

I hope you've got deep pockets, you'd be looking at around $2,500-$3,500 rent per month even in a semi rural spot.
Everything over here is crazy expensive now.
I can't honestly say I would envy...

Re: Coronavirus

We are both self employed and lost tons of business.
If the run on the Canadian banks happens (as has been forecast) we might have to go busking for a living..

Re: Coronavirus

I feel exactly the same.
Life in Canada right now is miserable.
Empty streets, empty restaurants and bars.
Empty gyms.
Gas prices at all time high.
8% inflation.
Businesses going under all...
