Suggest you research Los Cristianos in the South of Tenerife , I have to visit once a year and there always seems to be plenty of English speaking residents and of course many tourist.

The winters in the British Isles would put me right off. Here where I live we don't have winters, no snow or frosts, so no heating bills, plenty of year round daylight.

I have Spanish Citizenship, I did not have to surrender my British passport, I had to sign a document renouncing my U.K. nationality.

I voted in Spanish national and local elections, European elections, U.K. National elections, the 2016 referendum.

I doubt if I will be able to vote in any more U.K. elections under the present...

Try to avoid tourist resorts, they are too hot in summer and too busy in the winter months, plus far more expensive. I too fancied living on Gran Canaria, having first arrived whilst working in 1962....
