Re: Another way of getting a job?

It sounds like a real long shot to me.

Realistically nobody is going to go through the expense and effort of visa applications for a relatively junior position that they could fill anyway....

Re: British Salesman & Confused

Would any of those offers to buy the business be from a US company? Get yourself acquired, but remain in place as the manager of the new UK branch of a US company. Work your way up - and after a few...

Re: Work visa help

Re: Work visa help

By far the most common form of employment based emigration is transfers within multi-national companies. Everyone I know that has emigrated to the US by an employment route has been (at least...

Re: SSN and Driving Test

Whilst you are still a 'visitor' you can drive on your UK licence. There is no time limit for that. It's only once you become 'resident' must you have a CA license within 10 days.

But what...

Re: New York Bar Exam

I would just go with

"Attending a training course."

95% of the time that will be enough. Have some details availible if he asks, but he probably won't.

Re: Where do we start with an L1 visa?

Get in contact with an experienced firm of immigration lawyers. They will prepare and submit the paperwork (for a fee obviously :sneaky:). Then a very quick interview at the US embassy, hand over...

Re: H1B Advice, looking for job in USA, currently living in UK

From the employers point of view its more the time than the cost that is the offputting factor. The earliest you would be able to start is October (so a 9 month wait), and that's assuming you get...

Re: H1B Advice, looking for job in USA, currently living in UK

Thats pretty common. Often first interviews can be done over the phone, but final interviews are face to face. Maybe combine the interview with a holiday?

Re: H1B Advice, looking for job in USA, currently living in UK

I think you have already answered your own question.

No company is going to want to go through the time and expense of hiring someone from overseas just on an off chance - you need to build up a...

Re: L1a visa documents? National insurance number card?

I can't think why they would want an NI card. Certainly never asked for mine when I got the L1-b.

Especially since they stopped issuing number cards a few years back.

Passport obviously needs...

Re: Another greencard question relationg to H1-A

The US tries to avoid having too large a proportion of its greencard holders being from any one place - so adds extra quotas on them.

So unless you were born in China or India it isn't an issue.

Re: Green card difference between H1B and L1 (A or B)

Yes - and that's quite commonly done, usually when it's the employer trying to convince the employee to take the move (rather than vice versa)

Re: Blanket L1A Visa

The interview for my (Blanket) L1-B consisted of being asked to confirm the name of the company I worked for, how long had I worked there, what my job title was, and where I would be working. Total...

I'm in the same situation (daughter born in the US - rest of the family not US citizens).

I've been given a verbal rant by one CBP officer for going through the US channel with her, since I'm not...

Re: I want to be eligible for EB2?

Most British Bachelor degrees are 3 years - And there are are plenty of examples of Brits getting EB2 or EB3 - so I think you must have been misled there.

I have an English MEng degree (4 years...

Re: Wage deductions and driving in USA - new Visa

Do you already have a UK motorbike license? Check with the state but you are probably legal to ride a bike in the US for a short period on a UK license.
I found the US Motorbike test a lot harder...

Keep on mind that companies are only going to go to the effort of applying for a visa if the prospective employee has skills that are very hard to find and vital for the business.
