My partner and I are applying for PR as sponsored parents and the application is 'in process'. Our medicals expire in 30 days and approval at this stage would need a very rushed trip to land within...

Re: Start date for PR

Thanks for that FL, a weight off our backs on the start date. Since you didn't comment on it I gather the medical validity is a determinant of how long we have to land.

Thanks again:thumbup:

Re: June 8th poll

There is a small additional comment needed I think.
The goal of the prevailing American Capitalism - as distinct from the largely Quaker version initiated in the UK's Industrial Revolution with its...

Re: June 8th poll

Ah! - The Murdoch press. The most amazing thing I have seen in this fiasco is that George Osbourne, that scion of the Tory right, who now edits the (London) Evening Standard has used his influence...

Re: June 8th poll

Good God! Politicians treating the populace as thinking individuals? That is revolution in the making.

Interesting that in the film 'Shooting for Columbine' (which compared US and Canada re gun...

Re: June 8th poll

Couldn't work out WHY the opposition parties voted for the ending of the 5 year fixed term parliament until it was revealed that if they hadn't May was going to propose the removal of the Act from...

Re: immigration lawyers/advisers

I rang Fedex and most other UK couriers but was told the same thing by all of them. Not possible to accept couriered documents unless a named recipient could be given - even if that person did not...

Re: June 8th poll

This is how political parties with large funds spend them in the 21st Century. 'Targetted Advertising'. There is actually legislation which was supposed to stop the use of 'data analytics' being used...

Re: immigration lawyers/advisers

We are in the last stages of PGP application. Having been advised to get a lawyer to take it on board (by my sponsor) because of civil partnership (not a legal status for different sex parttners in...

Re: June 8th poll

Perhaps not!
Polls are being disregarded by the electronic media as being useless - having got it totally wrong in 2015, for the referendum and even Trump. Their methodolgy is suspect IPSOS only...

Re: Anyone heard about the parent sponsor selection yet?

Without the hope of optimism there is only the depression of pessimism. If you always look for a silver lining it's surprising how often there is at least a glimmer.
Thanks for all your effort in...

Re: Anyone heard about the parent sponsor selection yet?

The only additional information available top us is that both the Police Check and Medical are only valid for 12 months, so we assume it is likely we will have the decision before they expire. As we...

Re: 'Landing' whilst on holiday

Thanks for the prompt reply. Certainly a possibility but is that actually legal? It sounds as if you have not actually left Canada but been 'turned back at the border'.
Be lot less expensive than 2...

'Landing' whilst on holiday

We believe we are on the 'final lap' of PR under Parent/Grandparent Sponsorship, having had fulfilled the CIC requests for Police Check and Medicals. We have, however, been a little caught out by the...

Re: TV licences are Brits behind the times?

For me, far and away the best thing about the BBC system , and it is 4 BBC Channels plus a lot of 'regional channels' is that when I watch a programme for an hour I actually get an hours worth of...

Re: How long to move after PR granted

So to get an actual length of time - how long does it normally take between sending the medical and getting a PR decision?

Re: Anyone heard about the parent sponsor selection yet?

How long to move after PR granted

My partner and I got our PR applications in on the January 2016 Parent & Grandparent quota. We are very surprised to find that our application may well end up 'flying through the system' in under 2...

Re: Police Report for PR

Hi, Anyone know how long/difficult it is to get a police report from Australia? My partner lived there back in the 60's for a few years and it would be nice to get the info.

Thanks
