At the end of last week we sent for the Canadian police reports...got them back Monday...so they have been sent to the CIC. We asked for UK and US police reports at the weekend.

Thank you for replying.

Although it explains within the link, for Australia, it's important to get a Standard disclosure, not a Complete disclosure. The correct disclosure is generated by using the code IRCC tell you to use for the Purpose of the Check.

As well, depending on where you lived in Australia, you may need a driver's record (Queensland or Victoria).

Since we are just starting the process of Part 3 (PR decision) of the PGP sponsorship programme, it will be some time before any request for Police Checks is expected. Is there a 'period of validity' for them? If we got a check done now, and it took a long time to get through the process, would a certificate dated soon still be acceptable - if we didn't spend any more time in Australia of course?

Snowy 560, you say put IRCC as the code for purpose of check, CIC (on the link suggested) say " IMPORTANT: When filling out the Australian Federal Police National Police Check (NPC) Application Form, enter Code Number 35 in section 8 (Purpose of Check)."

Has there been a change, or are the 2 codes for different sections of the form?

Thanks for your help

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

The link tells you about the codes

I don't really understand your question. Ensure you follow what CIC (now known as IRCC) tells you to do and which I have highlighted in bold. I'm referring to the Australian online application as I assume that's how you intend to apply.

I hate IRCC, lol. I kept wanting to type IIRC (if I recall correctly).
