Re: USA Driving Licence

I tried this when I first started visiting FL. The main issue is not the legal ability in acquiring a DL, it is finding staff who knows they can issue one.

I banged heads with Sarasota DMV on...

Re: Moving Back to US - Would you do it now?

If you are given to living or hanging about in the poorer parts of the big cities then, sure, you are going to see the less happy side of life. Someone with a healthy income can avoid most of those...

Re: Moving Back to US - Would you do it now?

OP states that both are GC holders, that they left the US 5 years ago and have until August before re-entry option expires. As they now have a 2 year old child it seems reasonable to assume with no...

Re: Moving Back to US - Would you do it now?

Would I be correct in assuming that your child is not a US citizen or current green card holder? If so, is there not a bit of a wait for them to get a green card, would that mean leaving them with...

Re: No news from Venezuela, eh?

Curious to know how people on the ground are feeling now that all the US administration has done is cut the head off the Hydra and diverted oil (and now LPG) to the US? With the low cost of a barrel...

Re: BBC

I should clarify that by 'Beeb app' I meant the BBC news app, I don't tend to watch stuff on my phone very often as I like to see the detail in moving pictures and my eyesight struggles with such...

Re: Let's talk about cars

I had a GT185 as well. And although I've owned a good many of the 90's crotch rockets that little beast was quite possibly one of the scariest/fun bikes I've owned. It's 2 stroke capabilities and...

Re: BBC

Yeah, I think it is only Radio 2 (as in, no other Beeb offerings) on there and only live - not that I'd have much interest in listening to out of date Radio 2. ;)

Re: BBC

Update - Beeb have wised up and I can no longer access through incognito mode on the Chromebook.
Beeb app still works fine on the I-phone but our (meaning my wife) biggest discovery recently was the...

Re: BBC

Both the Beeb and CNN block access for me fairly quickly when I use Google Chrome on the Chromebook, I can skirt both by using incognito mode although the Beeb site is riddled with ads and popups.

Re: Fires In NC and SC

Late to the thread.
I read somewhere a while back that while California gobbles up the news for forest fires it’s the Carolinas that qualify for the largest number of forest fires, but these are...

Re: WTF in America Part 2

Sacrilege, I suggest you find a dominatrix to give you a good flogging. The crazy frog or baby shark might be more appropriate.

Re: WTF in America Part 2

Did you mean to leave out the bit about how the entire police department of McColl quit the week before?

Oh, and a warm welcome from upstate South Carolina.

Re: What to do pre/post move

Word to the wise, if you have previously opted to receive an SSN it is best to wait for it to come, as annoying as that wait may be.
I was keen to get started working ASAP and sort out driving...

Re: Dual US/UK Citizens - Make sure your UK Passport is valid if you want to vis

I can't see anywhere that UK citizens need a UK passport to travel to the UK. From what I read, if you are a UK citizen who does not want to stump up 10 quid for an ETA then you will need to show a...

Didn't have power for a week, worse still we had zero internet or phone service for a while and still no cable which means I'm hotspotting off my phone.
Been off work all...
