When he went for his visa interview he told them he was going to have to make a trip to activate and come back and they said he would have 1 year from activating it to get back...

Yes I completely hear what you are saying and it probably will be something like six months before we get there anyhow, we have up to October on my husbands visa before we would have to re-apply.
