Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

I'll take any work really. I'm also qualified in computerized accounts and bookkeeping so that's something else. I'd happily do labouring on building sites if needs be.

I didn't think 'stuff...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

She won't go. "It's too far away and what if summat happens to my family?" Tough luck if it does. One of them things. Plus, she can't just jack her job in. I'm self-employed so I can.

As for...

How do you know about my football allegiance? :O Have I left some clues on here somewhere?

But yeah, I support the proper side ;)

Edit: just checked my bio thing, noticed I put down United as...

Re: Anyone from Sheffield/Yorkshire?

Lifelong dream. The 'finest city in all the world' tag is something we say amongst ourselves. Parts of it resemble downtown Baghdad.

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

Looking at flights for March (mid to late). I'm back at work Monday, I need a few good paydays and I should be alright.

Got a few quid to last me a month or so. That would give me time to find...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

I mix with a heck of a lot of different people. All range from 18-80. Manual workers and professionals. The richer folk tend to be a bit more carefree but that's to be expected. But even they have...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

Takes me an hour to get from one side of Sheffield to the other at rush hour!! Similarly, it takes 45 minutes from Sheffield to Mansfield!!

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

Struggling to edit your quote on this stupid phone but I wanted to pick out your 'people are so optimistic here' comment.

Trust me, not many here are. It's all doom and gloom. The news is full of...

Re: Young Guy looking to move to Australia

Ay up.

I'm aiming for late March. It gives me just a few more paydays to save up a few more quid that's all.

I'm a bricklayer so I'd prefer that. But general labouring would do for me. Just...

WHV granted

As in the title, I've been granted my WHV..

Next step is booking a flight. I've been told Sydney is best to aim for as there is a higher demand for jobs. As my user name suggests, I work in...

Re: Young Guy looking to move to Australia

Hi Chris.

I've just received my WHV and so I'm looking at going to Oz ASAP (I also know it's a big move but it sounds like our circumstances are similar regards the 'what if' moment).

I'm...

Re: Ease of finding work

Mate has just come back from Melbourne and said he was paying our equivalent of £7 a time. That's where I've got my figure from. If they're wrong they're wrong. No biggie.

3/4 pints? And I...

Haha thanks! You're right - I don't take myself too seriously. Best way to be. In the right time and place anyway.

As I said, I like to know what I'm getting into. I keep getting opposite...

Ease of finding work

Long time since I last posted. I've put my WHV plans on hold while I save some funds but I'm still having a look now and again.

Anyhow, as the thread title suggests - how easy is it to get work?...

Re: Using an agency

The 4k isn't a standard figure. That's just what I want to allow myself to be able to have a little bit of time to find work/accommodation as oppose to rushing and panicking.

I could go now but...

Re: Using an agency

I'll look at those links later this week when I've got some time spare. I have actually got some bank account forms somewhere. I must've applied for em somewhere down the line but no idea when or...

Re: Using an agency

Ay up Elk.

The one I'm dealing with is 'GAP 360'. For £300 you get the bank account thingy I mentioned above or for £600 you get a week of social activities; a 'get to know you' session if you...

Re: Help on a few topics

Seems I'm learning some harsh lessons on here....

Re: Help on a few topics

This is the option I'm leaning towards. But would my option of permanent residency still be available (in the future)? I don't want to jeopardise any future plans at all. I know a WHV allows me to do...
