Re: New opportunities for UK workers

I desperately want to see the construction industry improve. A new house build in Perth used to take 9 months pre covid. Now it takes around 24 months. This isn't sustainable and I don't think there...

Re: A four year mistake

As other posters have said at least you gave it a go and now you know it's not for you and are settled and happy where you currently are. I must add however that Timaru in New Zealand wouldn't be...

Re: Cost of living in Perth

We are a family of 4 and make a similar income (unless i work away) and to be honest we find the cost of living to be not bad. Much better than New Zealand where we moved from however i can't compare...

Re: Perth, WA do or dont?

This:thumbs_up:. I'm reading posts everyday from Ireland/UK struggling to find rentals here. Was reading a post yesterday from someone claiming they are looking at 5 properties per day and can't get...

Re: Looking for advice

The UK is an absoloute mess at the moment. There aren't enough Irishmen in the world who could fix that . In all seriousness though I hope people back there are able to cope well over this...

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

I have already done climate comparisons on another forum. Christchurch is similar to La Rochelle in central France. Auckland with A Coruna in Spain. Hobart with Gijon in Northern Spain though Hobart...

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

I experienced icy winds in Christchurch but it was nothing out of the ordinary. I did climatise a little bit in Christchurch compared to Ireland which is proof they are different enough climates....

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

One of the reasons southern Hemisphere climates on similar latitudes to the North are less likely to see snowfall such as Christchurch is largely because of a lack of landmass between New Zealand and...

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

I don't doubt Hobart can get icy cold winds but believe it or not there is quite a big distance between Hobart and Antarctica and it is much greater than between London and the Arctic. Cold wind or...

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

So if you don't agree with the points of my data are you claiming that Hobart has a climate that is similar to Ireland and the UK? As the point i was making is that Hobart is significantly better in...

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

I didn't encounter any cold wind at all last year to be honest. I just noticed it quite a bit this year though I've been working pretty close to the coast this winter. I can't speak what it's like in...

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

I think you misunderstood my post. I'm claiming even here in Perth we can get a bitterly cold wind from the south. Even mediterranean climates can get cold winds in winter and as I said we have even...

Thumbs up Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

It's not JUST google data. All climate data in Australia is collected by Bom in which google and in particular Wikipedia picks up. The same as the Met office in the UK. Also 1650 isn't Heathrow, it's...

Re: Looking for advice

I wouldn't worry so much especially living on this side of the world. Europe and the UK are entering a recession and the US Is soon to follow meanwhile we are remaining pretty resilient. The...

Re: Advice on UK to Tasmania move

If your coming from Ireland like myself then Tasmania will be significantly sunnier and much warmer. Tasmania in terms of climate is similar to Christchurch in New Zealand where I used to live. To...
