There is a form 929 for informing DIAC of any changes, which includes replacement passports, but as moneypenny says no real need to inform DIAC.

I'd dare anyone to tell a familiy member or child to take them off! Too many servicemen/women attend these occassions. If they got wind of someone being told to take them off.......look out.

Perhaps give him a taster session in a pool first and take it from there. Doesnt suit everyone. Can feel quite unusual at first not being able to breath through nose and some have ear.sinus problems....
