Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I should have said I'm am American.

I am a little confused by what you have said. If I am able to disable the region protection, wouldn't I then be able to play dvd's...

I have a really nice bookshelf system with a dvd/cd player, am/fm stereo, as well as a surround system with 5 speakers and receiver. Will any of these work over there the the proper adapters?

I do think that if you don't have to show a round trip ticket when entering the UK, your best, easiest way would be to go in on your US passport. then deal with renewing your UK one once there. Just...
