If I decide to apply for another VISA for the USA, do you know whether the procedure takes as long as the first application?

Hi All
Just received my passport back today, it is valid for one entry into the USA and expires on 27th December 2012.

Not very happy - was hoping it was going to be valid for a longer period...

Thanks have tried ringing the Embassy but they were of no help. They said that there was no way of getting in touch with the DHS or checking an application once it was in the system.

30-40 years ago I was using a motor vehicle with an altered MOT certificate. Did the police checks and it came back with no trace. Sent all the docs...
