New Will required once home?

Hi,
we need to get a Will done -we are in Canada- but also want to move back to the UK. If we get one done here, do we need to redo it once we arrive home or will our Canadian one be valid.
We...

Re: Bringing up a family in Alberta

I have lived in Cochrane for 5.5 years. To begin with I tried to be positive about the weather and tell myself that the sun is better than lots of rain etc, and all the stuff people tell you. However...

Re: Do I have to remain in Canada once I send in my application for citizenship?

Thanks! I hope your situation has improved with employment. It really is such a shock particularly when only one of us works!
I have the forms printed now and I will spend time getting them done!

Re: Do you believe that children have a better life growing up somewhere like Canada?

I'm sorry to hear you've been unhappy with the choice you made. Is there no possibility of returning now?
You're so right about the winters, real feel of -35 today, and I know I knew the winters...

Re: Do you believe that children have a better life growing up somewhere like Canada?

I'm in the process of filling out my citizenship forms as I just qualified in December to apply. So that is underway regardless of our choice thanks.
We own a house here and could either sell, or...

Re: Do you believe that children have a better life growing up somewhere like Canada?

Yes, I can see that by making the move here we seek to justify the losses by telling ourselves it's better for the children. In some ways it might be, however in other ways they miss out.
True too...

Re: Do you believe that children have a better life growing up somewhere like Canada?

I assume well meaning relatives mean better than growing up and living in the UK. A few seem to think it would be a very bad thing for us to return. I know ultimately the decision is down to us...

Re: Do you believe that children have a better life growing up somewhere like Canada?

We are outside Calgary. My kids ski in the winter, as does my husband when he is physically able to (back injury). I don't ski and don't like the cold (I know, all I can say is that I must have...

Re: Do I have to remain in Canada once I send in my application for citizenship?

Thank you, I guess I will make sure I stay and get the application done and approved. This was a just in case scenario in case we really needed one of us working. Thanks again!

Do you believe that children have a better life growing up somewhere like Canada?

Hi,
I'm curious as to what you believe as to this.
My husband was made redundant recently (very unexpectedly), and in considering our options, one of which is returning to the UK so I can work, I...

Do I have to remain in Canada once I send in my application for citizenship?

Hi,
A quick question if anyone can help please. My husband was made redundant extremely unexpectedly. I have been here long enough to apply for citizenship, so I will get that going. My question is...

Re: How did you decide?

I will. I just hope I'll be settled either way because I too wonder about the future and how I'd feel if I did want to return but my kids didn't.

Re: How did you decide?

We are in a similar position. We've lived in Alberta for 3.5 years however my husband wants to stay whereas lately I have felt homesick. I've heard a visit to the place you're homesick for will...

Re: Did anyone move back and have regrets?

I too said we would give it a try, and we agreed if one of us was unhappy then we would return.
The environment, well the air is so much cleaner our son who was on the verge of being diagnosed with...

Re: Did anyone move back and have regrets?

Thanks everyone,
I have a large family in the UK and some really close friends. My husband has a tiny family (one aunt!) and pretty much never saw his two cousins. His dad, and his dad's parents...

Re: Anyone who returned to the UK, any regrets?

Thanks everyone.
Homeschooling is not an option for me as firstly I don't possess the patience to teach and secondly I believe kids learn a lot from just being at school and learning how to get on...

Re: Did anyone move back and have regrets?

I should add that my husband is adamant that he wants to stay however he'd return if I really wanted to however wouldn't be happy doing so as he is not a fan of living in the UK.

Did anyone move back and have regrets?

I posted this in the main Canada forum, however this is probably a better spot.
Hi everyone,
Bit of background info, I've lived in Canada (near to Calgary) for 3.5 years. We moved here for many...

Re: Anyone who returned to the UK, any regrets?

Thanks, I appreciate the opinions.
Can I ask how old your children were when you returned and whether they were behind or had problems joining the UK education system?

Re: Anyone who returned to the UK, any regrets?

I think you're right, it's a big issue for me. I already feel from becoming a mother and moving here that I've lost some of my identity and finding I can't return to work on a part time basis has...

Anyone who returned to the UK, any regrets?

Hi everyone,
Bit of background info, I've lived in Canada (near to Calgary) for 3.5 years. We moved here for many reasons, a large one was that my husband had spent 9 years here as a child, has dual...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

After a traumatic last couple of weeks we have finally got our COPR!

In a week where our all our worldly possessions were packed away, our house sale completed and the father in law sadly passed...
