Re: Not quite an ex pat

And Aus roads are nothing like UK roads when it comes to A and B class roads. I say this because although a village/town may not be that far from the coast as the crow flies it's totally different in...

Re: Best forex exchange rates

Re: Will it ever happen?

I've been here for 14yrs now and if I knew what I do now I don't think I would do it again. Plenty of reasons as to why but the biggest thing over the past 3-4 years is realising my folks are in...

Re: Importing car from England

Also, double check about asbestos for the UK. This is because Oz has a zero percent policy on anything imported. If the UK allows even 1% of a head gasket, other gasket, brake pad, clutch plate etc...

Re: Perth or Brisbane

Trust me that Brisbane is a very small city. It's like a village trying to act like a large city. There is nothing outside of the CBD unlike Melbourne and Sydney that have bustling inner city suburbs...

Re: 489 visa granted - now what?!

If your wife's not going to be working then I'd research everything in detail before you decide to move half way around the world.
Oz is expensive and kindergarden is a large outlay especially on a...

Re: Perth or Brisbane

The UK version of a quiet life and that in Australia is very different. In the UK you can live in a small rural village yet when you wish too travel to a nearby larger city for theatre or something...

Re: Home Values Plunge 25% In Real Terms Across 5 OZ Cities

In a way it was better that the people COULD walk away as it was the banks that had caused the problem so they should be penalised and not the people. Unfortunately the banks managed to wiggle out of...

Re: Home Values Plunge 25% In Real Terms Across 5 OZ Cities

Maybe so but you are missing the fact of how much property prices have increased in those 15 years. So what if you pay $1000 less per month on $500,00 when 15 years ago that same money would have...

Re: Home Values Plunge 25% In Real Terms Across 5 OZ Cities

No big surprise. If you could actually get hold of the house selling and renovation shows from 10-15 years ago I think you'd be very shocked at the price of housing back then plus the land rates.

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

The point you're missing is the elitist BS this country has become. I've done the hard yards. People just don't seem to realise how bad the situation has become they just bleat on about how it is...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

After being back in the UK July 2017 I can say that many aspects of UK shopping are still much cheaper than Oz and taking into account wage differences and COL.

Housing is becoming far more of a...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

Nope. This country is way too expensive in so many ways and if you like to holiday then the world is far more cheaply accessible from Europe/USa than Aus.
Package holidays aren't a thing here. Well...

Re: Don't belong
