Back 4 years

As a born and bred Londoner I moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2005 where I spent 6 years. I was unhappy for most of my time there being quite homesick. Even though I tried embracing what Vancouver has...

Re: Best place to sell everything?

I am moving back to the UK from Vancouver in just over 2 weeks. I advertised everything on Craigslist, within my apartment building and on FB Marketplace. Within a week I have managed to sell some...

Re: Negative Attitude

I wouldn't be concerned about what others say. I am moving back to London after nearly 6 years in Vancouver and can't wait! I have been met with the same negative reponses from Brits and Canadians...

Re: Recomended shipping companies from BC Canada back to UK?

My goods are currently on their way back to London from Vancouver. I used Allied Pickfords as they were highly recommended by friends who used them. The packers were very efficient, the contact...

Re: Abbotsford - information

I work in Abbotsford but choose to live nearer to Vancouver. Coming from London, I personally find it very weird. It is a Bible belt and also one of the gangster capitals of Canada.

Re: Let's face it... Britain isn't so bad over all

I agree with you about the coffee...here in Vancouver it's Starbucks rather than Tim Hortons - much more pricey and not that great either. I have to say though that Vancouver people tend to be very...

Re: Let's face it... Britain isn't so bad over all

Haha, yes indeed I had a license in the UK but I am afraid that I've forgotten how to drive a manual on the left after driving an automatic on the right for the past 4 + years:ohmy:

Re: Let's face it... Britain isn't so bad over all

If you were to opt for a home birth, the hospital cannot forbid it per se, but the health professionals involved can refuse to be involved. If you were to bring a midwife from somewhere else or...

Re: Let's face it... Britain isn't so bad over all

Thanks for that. Yes, I will be working in the NHS.....you don't appreciate it until you move! The health system in Canada is generally worse for patients especially if you land up in hospital here....

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a UK mobile phone contract immediately upon arrival back in the UK after being away for 4+ years? I have kept my UK bank accounts and credit cards active and...

Re: Let's face it... Britain isn't so bad over all

Thanks for the link. My license has been checked by an RCMP officer (during an occasion when I broke down driving my old car) and nothing untoward showed up. In addition, I have been renewing my car...

Re: Let's face it... Britain isn't so bad over all

I didn't make any comment on the ease or difficulty of the driving test as I didn't subject myself to it. I didn't go to "all the bother to circumvent the system". I was in Toronto visiting family...

Re: Shipping a car back to the UK

My "stint" in Canada was 4+ years, but I've had the car for 20 months. I think my mind is made up and I'll just have to sell it. Thanks for the responses.

Re: Let's face it... Britain isn't so bad over all

I completely agree, been in Vancouver 4 and a half years now. I am glad to say I'm moving back to the UK (specifically London) later this year pending a confirmed job. Re. the drivers licence issue,...

Hello all,

I am returning to the UK after a stint in Canada this Summer. Is it worth shipping a car back? I have a 2008 BMW to which I'm very attached. Will the left hand drive be an issue in the...
