Don't patronise me by telling me what I want.
I asked for what I wanted and explained why. You clearly don't get that or choose in your self-important way to ignore it.
I do not need your version of what you call "the truth".It is your opinion and you are very arrogant to think it is anything else.
The maxim holds true especially for people like you who think the world deserves their opinion, whether they are asked for it or not.
It doesn't and you were not asked.
Keep it to yourself unless you are asked for it and in this case I didn't ask for it - I asked for answers to my original post and if you had bothered to read it and respect my query, you wouldn't have posted at all.
I am not going to suddenly decide to live somewhere else because you don't think much of where I have chosen to live.
Maybe you should think about why you seem to have the unstoppable urge to throw your negative opinion at another poster who specifically asked for people to refrain from such comments and then assume an air of repugnant superiority when I politely tell such posters as you to answer the thread as posted or butt out?

My family has lived in Abbotsford for almost 4 years.
My OH half has worked in Surrey, langley and Abbotsford. We looked at houses in all areas. She found her self warming more to Abbotsford and ended working there full time.
We really enjoy living in Abbotsford, East Abbotsford is the best area to live. We managed to get a great spot up on one of the mountain developments.
Regarding crime in Abbotsford, it has improved dramatically this year. There has been no murders at all.
It is a great place if you like outdoors activities. There are hundreds of nature trials, camp grounds and lakes nearby. Hayward lake is a particular gem much better than cultus lake which is very popular for day trippers from Vancouver.
I am suprised how much development has gone on it the last few years. New strip mall are popping up everywhere. There is a huge $70 million development on the west side that will really improve the retail side of Abbotsford. There has also been vast improvement to the trans canada Highway connections at nearly all entrance/exits from abbotsford.
The hospital is world class my son was born there this year and I was shocked by the quality of the care he and my wife received. I have had bupa private medical care for years and the standards in Abbotsford hospital were on par with private hospitals in the UK.
We have found the area easy to make friends. The nightlife is basic, though the majority of people here have great house parties or head to the local rivers for BBQs get togethers all summer long.
The weather is the better than vancouver less rain and hotter summers it can still hit the high 20's right through until end of september.
Local produce available by the plenty, strawberries raspberries blue berries corn easy to come by from local farms.
For winter sports you are blessed hemlock 30 mins Grouse 1 hr Mt baker 1 hour.
Geographically it is hard to beat US border 5 mins, seattle 2 hours, Vancouver 1 hour and kelowna 3 hours.
Anything else you need to know drop me a PM.

Newsflash. You can't control people's responses on an open forum like this. And yes, I know what you said in your first post and stayed away, but I got tired of seeing you bully posters who responded in a way you don't like.
thanks to Alan and 4 bells who get it.
BTW, what exactly did I say about Abby that was so negative. I said it was cheaper. This is not a matter of opinion, that is a FACT. Abby is much, much cheaper and has a slower property market than many other parts of the lower mainland. Generally when property is cheaper it means there is less demand, ergo...
An inconvenient truth for helcat, I guess.

On other geographical notes, Mt Baker is an active volcano, any low lying areas are in the Fraser River flood plain and the LM is overdue for an earthquake.
Upside, the airport (CYXX) is above the flood plain, and is now capable of taking all the traffic out of YVR should that slip under the waves when the big one hits. Most of the hotels are not, so any stranded pax would have to camp out in the hangers.

most residents of Vancouver might consider it to be only areas west of Mission and Abbotsford
I must be honest and say that was how I understood the term as well. Until now.
And welcome back to The Aviator. I was beginning to think he'd forgotten to put his wheels down before landing one day.

I work in Abbotsford but choose to live nearer to Vancouver. Coming from London, I personally find it very weird. It is a Bible belt and also one of the gangster capitals of Canada.

Mission and Abby are outside the translink tax territory which can make a pretty good difference in price but the downside is transit in Mission, Abby etc sucks.
