Until you get a residency visa, you can only drive a hire car. So, until you get a job or until you get married and sponsored by your husband, you will have to hire a car and can't drive a privately...

I teach at AAESS and it is a good British school at a reasonable...

My husband also works as a consultant in Al Ain hospital. We have been here for around 2 years now (coincidentally, I am also from the NW UK).

Hey, There is a fab optician opposite Q Home Design in Al Ain Mall. I had to take the squinty one of mine to the hospital as she is astigmatic. That's because they have to put drops in their eyes...

I agree... the DVLA know nothing.

I got my UAE license last October, using my UK license to do so.

Since then, my photocard UK license needed renewing. I sent it to the DVLA and it was renewed...

We moved to Al Ain a few months ago. My kids are in AAESS. The school has its issues but generally is good. Very like UK schools in terms of curriculum etc. and my kids found it easy to fit in...

Asfar resorts is good. Cost about 16000 a month for a 2 bedroomed apartment. They clean and change beds and towels etc. There is also a pool.
