There is a 10% room rate levy on short term rentals, which is payable as VAT. So you need to register with TAMIS for VAT. Income tax is a different matter, I would assume it depends on your status...

Do you not have a property manager here in Barbados? My wife does those filings for all the rental properties of her clients. I believe it's not hard but can be time consuming.

I can definitely endorse that life here is expensive and might not be quite what you are...

buying a car if you are on the Welcome Stamp is easy.... well no more complicated and time consuming than for anyone else... but there's nothing to stop you doing it.

You don't need an international driving license.. you can apply for a local permit with a UK license.

Although we were stunned to get a notice that we hadn't paid last years.... when we did it online in June.. (we have a copy of the successful transaction)... A trip to BRA...

As I recall I applied for my passport after the ceremony because up until then I didn't have the supporting paperwork... but you are a citizen once you have paid...

That does seem quicker... my phone interview was a few years down the line...

But I am on the island and initially got a three year reside and work permit once I started the application...

All I can remember is the whole process took pretty much 5 years to the day from start to finish.. hope that helps..

Something similar to council tax does exist in the form of Land Tax. Its not recovered by a local authority so thats the main difference.. but it is a tax based on property values...which is the...

I find the outdoor wearing of masks has dropped off considerably (in my opinion not a bad thing but thats a personal opinion). People tend to don their masks outside when they are expecting to come...

Quarantine rules changed today..at least for now.. fully vaccinated people only need a neg PCR test prior to flying in.

If the rules revert then the point of approved quarantine hotels is also...

I'm looking to buy another property in Barbados next year... ironically I've found the best listings to be on Rightmove.. they have a Caribbean page.. .rentals too..

Second hand car market... varies a lot.. Can be expensive but there are a number of bargains to be had amongst a few people who buy Japanese/Korean cars and put them back together here.. if you don't...
