Welcome Stamp Questions
Hi everyone.
I am a UK citizen and I am looking to head to Barbados for 6 months as a tourist to see if I can live there long-term before applying for a welcome stamp.
Before I apply for a welcome stamp, I have some questions as a tourist;
1) Is owning a vehicle as a tourist permitted and if so, what is the procedure for getting a car legally on the road if I were to purchase one?
2) Can a tourist who is there for 6 months rent an apartment?
Thank you in advance!

Re: Welcome Stamp Questions
The answers are yes to the apt, and i think yes to the car but i cant prove that 100%, but you can of course rent one long term, the procedures are all online in various websites. You need to have proof ot a return flight to your home to get into the place as a tourist, the process to acquire a car is arduous and expensive, as are the cars, and you need to have an address in barbados first. You will also need an international driving license and apply for a visitors driving permit or two.

Re: Welcome Stamp Questions
You realise the cost of the visa and that you cant extend it after 12 months - that was discussed then but i dont think they ever allowed it. If it is your intent to relocate permanently this is not the way.

Re: Welcome Stamp Questions
You will be able to rent an apartment. I'm a UK citizen and I have accounts for utilities, so there won't be any problem renting.
Do you have any friends or family on the island? Its all about who you know, not what you know. Happy to help if I can.

Re: Welcome Stamp Questions
the Welcome Stamp is, and has been, extendable. for at least 3 years. has to be done every year.. and at this point, it might be more than 3. the legislation for more than a 2nd year extention went in last year. The Terms of the Welcome Stamp Still apply.. you can get an ID, but you are NOT concidered a Barbadian resident or citizen that would allow you to actually work, gain an income from a company on the island. Remote work would still be the only means of income while here. I do know a welcome stamp person who arrived in the last few months that has purchased a car, rather than renting. so it can be done.
