And hopefully your phone is unlocked AND has quad band , if not you will have to buy a local phone along with the simcard, which you can get from BDS $ 99, so that will not break the bank.

As far as I know, health insurance can not be taken out by individuals in Barbados.
Only through organisations be it through work(your employer, but only a few companies offer health insurance,...

I would check your info, because I understand you and your wife have no status in Barbados , which means your child is not automatically given citizenship.
