Re: Dual taxation treaty

I think so. I (wrongly) assumed they would realise my other two pensions weren't taxable in the UK, but they never did. I've been paying tax on one since August last year and I'm in the process of...

Re: Dual taxation treaty

Re: Dual taxation treaty

Good info Lansbury. I'll just file the same forms and pay the fee again for the subsequent pensions. I probably didn't make it clear by saying UK Gov pension. My wife is a US citiizen (as I am...

Re: Dual taxation treaty

Thanks Lansbury, we're kind of in the same boat as I have four pensions from England and my wife has one plus a UK gov pension. Did you send the same form again (US-individual 2002) and the 8802...

Re: British vs. American spelling

Whatever you do, don't tell the guy who looks after the phone system what "bollocks" are. That was the name in my phone display for about three months after I started work here!

Re: Here we go. Time to file for citizenship!

It's pretty quick in Charleston isn't it! I had my interview with tests and stuff 15th April last year (I was convinced I'd get the "When is tax day" question, but didn't). Ceremony was 10 days later...

Re: US passport/Certificate return times

Probably not! As you say, your passport is your official ID now. I'm probably just a bit OCD about all the paperwork we had to show to get here in the first place!

Re: US passport/Certificate return times

 I wasn't particularly worried about identity theft, but I was worried about having to spend over 500 bucks if it went missing!

Re: BT Pension

I took my 10 year BT pension last year, but chose not to take the lump sum. I just took a bigger monthly payment as we had previous knowledge from when my wife took her NHS pension a couple of years...

I didn't look to see what the official figures were for wait times, I just knew a friend at work completed it in two months. I'll let you know!

That's fine. As long as it's completed by June 2020 I'm good!

We did that last year, so both of our tax codes in the UK are now NT. I didn't opt for any lump sums with my pensions and I'll just declare all income on our tax returns next year. Because these...
