Re: Eaton Center Shooting

Did you hear anything about the sad story surrounding this case? You really are a sad ignorant **** and if you have ever been allowed to carry a gun I despair.

Re: 3 years today.

Bloody hell. Just realised it is three years today for me too. At least I can get a nexus card now.

Yeah I was. Then some good things happened workwise here so looks like here for a bit longer.

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

I don't particularly like either. Just watching a repeat of 'Escape to the Country' featuring East Devon. Lovely. Bet you can get a great 99 there

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

No, I know and it was a serious reply. Apart from ethnicity I really think there is very little diversity. Not something unique to UBC but perhaps more marked.

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

Not sure I would agree. Poilte, middle-class and well off would be my description. There is a relatively significant aboriginal group of students but other than this very little diversity.

Re: (Ontario) London or St. Catharines OR Chatham-Kent?

I think St Catharines is ok. Good value and some nice areas. Near to Niagara and the US etc. Like many of these towns it suffered from the building of out of town malls which have killed what once...

Re: Vancouver, don't get it.

I think when I first moved to Kits it probably held up on the second point. In 2000 I was being paid around $65K and a nice condo in the heart of Kits cost me not much over $200K. I recall having a...

Re: Cost of living in Canada?

How bizarre....

I agree with Xpat. My mortgage is slightly less than 300K now, and our combined income significantly higher than 65K. Nothing really left over each month.

Re: Cost of living in Canada?

Yes, because you would be living in London. What would the comparison be with say, Stoke on Trent or Swindon?

Re: Anyone live in Sudbury?

Sudbury is grim. As Novo points out you would have to be living somewhere pretty dire in the UK to prefer Sudbury. There is the "Big Nickel" (to save googling it is a big nickel) and a rather scary...

Re: Who knows Montreal well ?

Isn't work paying? Given that conferences are generally pretty much hell on earth and only exist as an expense jolly, surely the aim is to stay at the most expensive hotel you can get away with?...

Re: I love living in Canada, because?

Don't you miss the tower and the donkeys though? I once got to go in the ring with Charlie Cairoli at the Tower Circus. Canada can't compete with that.

Re: Moving to oakville - $55k enough for a family of 5?

Yes, and the monthly payment on a $150K mortgage would be very significantly less than renting a large house in Oakville.

With all these kinds of questions it seems to me that cost of housing is...

Re: Booze etc from US

Seems a pretty unfair system and...
