Re: 189 and RRV with very limited time spent onshore

Thank you both, that sounds positive. We would be moving to Sydney long term but I would like to make sure I am able to travel abroad if required, for example if there were to be a family emergency...

189 and RRV with very limited time spent onshore

Greetings,

I was granted a 189 Visa in Dec 2013 but has not yet made the move to Australia, simply because I met my wife in London some time afterwards and we are still enjoying life in London...

Re: Emigrating Alone

I am moving to Melbourne on my own in December. Alborg's advice is very sound, and echoes my own views. It is definitely a bit daunting to leave your current network of friends and acquaintances...

Re: Better city for job search, Bris/Melb

Hi yellowpuppy,

Re: Cost of living in Sydney or Melbourne

Fair enough.
Judging by another thread started by OP (http://britishexpats.com/forum/australia-54/suburb-information-855906/), they have opted for Sydney.

Re: Cost of living in Sydney or Melbourne

I agree to a point; some cities are more expensive to live in, and salaries have to reflect this depending on if you are working in Brisbane or Sydney. But I'm not so sure calling architects arty...

Re: Cost of living in Sydney or Melbourne

That may be more relevant from a social science point of view, but for the OP who is looking to negotiate a good deal from his existing employer, it is only of limited help.

Average salaries per...

Live somewhere like Glebe (http://www.cityhobo.com/cities/sydney/glebe-sydney-inner-west), and commute by motorcycle to beat the traffic.

Re: Cost of living in Sydney or Melbourne

Hi Komail,

The people on BE are a helpful bunch, but this is a pretty big ask. Personally I would have thought the main difference in cost will come down to cost of rental properties. The below...

Re: Aussie Aussie (moved from Welcome Inn)

If you have a medical condition, with symptoms that improve with warmer weather and sunshine, I fully understand - some parts of Australia could be a good thing for you.

HOWEVER - in all other...

Re: Australia..where to start?

I understand one needs to go where there is work, and as far as distance goes, that is a really good point - Australia is FAR away. But it would seem an awful shame to write off Australia in large...

Re: Where to live?

It seems that the OP has successfully ruled out most of the populous areas of Australia. All cities/regions have their positives and negatives, and there are some sweeping generalisations in the...

Re: i can't go through the IELTS exams

To increase your IELTS score you need to think about (if you haven't already) how you prepare for the exam, and what the examiners are looking for.
For example, it is good to be aware of the type...
