Re: Staff Meetings

That's what I thought too. Don't call someone out in front of others. Being 'upfront and honest' can be just another form of bullying. You can sort problems out by talking 1-1 to the person, or...

Re: Missing UK Telly choices!

I use a dns service and access BBC iplayer and ITV on demand. You can download to the iplayer app. I also subscribe to Acorn TV which I hear is coming to NZ. That has a broad mix of...

Re: Introduction & Concerns From A Potential Immigrant

I agree with that. Having returned back home to NZ after 20+ years away, it's lovely to meet up with those friends I made from years back who I share a history with. I was never able to capture...

Re: Should we move to NZ?

I meet a lot of teachers from a range of schools. The happiest seem to be those at mid-range schools where the parents are interested but not obsessively so. The higher the decile rating, the more...

Re: North shore - unaffordable dream?

The housing market will only crash if the job market collapses. Then banks will sell off their assets as mortgagee sales and collapse the market. If you can keep your job and your marriage, you can...

Re: North shore - unaffordable dream?

Lot's of good advice. I would live somewhere for a year and get a feel for the place - you may feel differently about Takapuna after you've lived there - I'd probably go further up the coast. Yeah,...

Re: Auckland or bust by xmas: districts to rent a house

Relocating - recommendations in Northland?

Hi guys - quick recap. Returned home in 2011 after 24 years OE in London. Started a business and living in Auckland but now keen to move to a less populated area, avoiding fault lines if possible. ...

Re: Crumpet conundrum

The nicest crumpets I've found that have no extra additives in are 'Button Family Crumpets' available at Countdown. I'm get odd reactions to processed food due to additives, but I'm fine with these.

Re: Living in Waipawa, Hawkes Bay

With a global uptick in seismic activity due to the solar minimum, I'd be steering clear of any fault lines right now. If you have a strong personal desire to live in the region, be earthquake aware...

Re: Living in Nelson

Weather in Nelson is WAY better than Scotland. I know several people who have lived in Nelson and have loved it. Moved away regretfully for family reasons. I am considering moving to Nelson myself....

Re: Repatriated Kiwi

I was away for 24 years and returned in 2011. I was lucky enough to be able to go back for a visit in 2012 and it cemented the view that I had made the right choice. I reminded myself that it took...

Re: Lockwood homes

One thing you do know about Lockwood homes is that they are well built. You have to like wood though :p. I would never paint the wood - it could negatively affect you resale value. If you want to...
