Late stage subclass 176 NON CSL with job offer

If your are one of the unlucky 176 NON CSL aplications and in the worst case we get frozen until 2012, what happens if you went to OZ and got a job offer?

Would you have to apply for a subclass...

My partner has to prove functional english. The next available test at our local test centre is the academic test. Is this OK for DIAC purposes?

Do I need IELTS test for British Passport holder for ACT sponsorship

Looked at the ACT sponsorship guidelines and it doesn't mention that British Passport holders don't need to sit IELTS test. Would be a pain when the subclass 176 let's us brits off sitting IELTS test.
