Is Acedemic IELTS OK or must it be General Training?
My partner has to prove functional english. The next available test at our local test centre is the academic test. Is this OK for DIAC purposes?
Best regards,
Dave

Does your partner hold a passport from UK, Ireland, New Zealand, USA or Canada? If so, you don't need to do IELTS.

No problem with the academic.

Academic test is in general perceived as being harder than the general test. I could have sat the general test, but like your case, those were hardly available. I therefore did the academic test, and this satisfies the requirement.

Thanks everyone for your help. Looks like Academic or General Training will both do the trick. My Partner is Finnish by the way.

depends really... having sat for my test immediately after graduating, i sat for academic for the simply reason that after 4-yrs at uni having everything taught in english, i got used to academic english and didn't want to risk it
