Default Application @ Priority 4 - Changing to State Sponsorship?

Hey guys

Lodged application for 176 (family sponsor) in November. Haven't heard a thing.

Anybody applied for State Sponsorship to speed up application? (see below)

Priority group 1 - State/territory sponsored.
Immigration have advised that they expect all state sponsored applications (that is, applications which have a current state sponsorship approval attached) will be allocated to case officers by 13 Feb. Please note that allocation doesn't mean that we'll hear from them by 13 Feb, as it sometimes takes a case officer a week or two to get through to a file once it's allocated.

Priority Group 2 - Critical Skills List (CSL)Once when all state sponsored applications have been allocated, then applications with occupations on the CSL will be allocated. While Immigration haven't given a timetable, we'd expect that this may happen around end Feb-early March. However, this remains to be seen.

Priority Group 3 - Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL).
Once when all state sponsored and CSL applications have been allocated, then applications with occupations on the MODL will be allocated. While Immigration haven't given a timetable,it's a bit early to guess when this might be. Given that most (but not all) MODL occupations are on CSL, there shouldn't be a huge number of these.

Priority Group 4 - The RestOnce when all state sponsored, CSL and MODL applications have been allocated, the remaining applications will be allocated. It's impossible to guess when this may happen, but my guess is that we will be in for quite a wait for these, although trying to put a number on this is impossible.

Hi Bazza,
I'm in exactly the same boat as you with an August 2008 176 family sponsor (no modl or csl).
I've been told by an migration agent that it is possible to add state sponorship to an already lodged application becuase you are not changing the subclass type. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Dave

Family sponsorship seems to be at the back of the queue - you would want to check your occupation on state wanted list and go from there. What does your agent suggest (if you are using one)?

Bazza........we are 176 family sponsored, applied 11 Aug 08, i have decided to lodge a state sponsored, E is a nurse and on state list, we are heading to Queensland, the form took about 5 mins to complete and the only other thing they need is her nursing assessment, there is nto even a fee for it and QLD turn them around in a week (used to be a day until the massive increase in state sponsorship applications) the courier is picking it up tommorow. From the info i have it should mean the application will be looked at and allocated a ssoon as the sponsorship arrives, it doesnt affect the application at all, all it means is you have to live in that state for 2 years, i will let you know how things go

Thanks very much for your replies guys.

Biggest problem is profession is not on the WA list, so gonna have a stab as an 'off list' candidate.

Cheers.
