I know that commuting would be a pain, but to be honest, when you start feeling happy you found a place in AD at 300K, it shows how bad the rental market in AD...

I read many posts saying cars in UAE are cheaper than UK, so I started to look at UAE classifieds ( out of curiosity ) to find out that cars are not really that cheap in UAE.

A quick update: I just received the contract by post, they agreed with 3 months notice :) We didn't agree the move date yet, it would probably be around 15 February.

Well, I am still waiting for my contract but I am assuming they are going to go for the " local hire ". Company is a large multinational ( not constructions :)

Ok, it looks like I am coming to Abu Dhabi :), probably beginning of Feb.

Hotel for 4-5 weeks and then... we'll see. I think it's time to do some serious reading about where to live in Abi Dhabi...

I am not quite clear on the " tax free " status of my potential earnings in the UAE.

Does it mean that after one year I will be able to transfer the money to my UK account and not be liable for...

Is it really the norm Eva? It would be helpful to know companies in Abu dhabi that offered 5 weeks as norm for temporary accomodation recently ( it's always good to give real examples ).
