Re: Sky playing up

I use my Vonage phone. All they know at the other end is the call is coming from a London number. You can also plug the receiver into this line and request PPV events.

Re: Driving from Santander to Alicante

I've been both ways and the Madrid route is by far the quicker (the people recommending the other are in Valencia, not Alicante).

Re: Looking at air con, all advice welcome.

I don't have a dust problem. Why do you think a wood stove would cause one?

Burning wood is not for everyone. You've got to cut/buy wood, split it, season it, bring it in, put it in the stove,...

Re: Looking at air con, all advice welcome.

The day I installed ceiling fans was the day I stopped using air-con. There's no comparison between the fan in an air-con unit and a ceiling fan. With a decent sized one, say 1.4m or bigger, you can...

Re: Looking at air con, all advice welcome.

We haven't turn our house air-con on this year yet. The house is surrounded by trees and normally it stays below 27 degrees inside. The only time we normally put it on is when the humidity is really...

Re: Looking at air con, all advice welcome.

Inverter units are only more efficient when under run. At full throttle conventional units are more efficient.
That's not true. To convert from AC to DC uses a rectifier. An inverter converts from...

Re: Looking at air con, all advice welcome.

How are you working out the 6.5 cents? Is it a controlled test, or just something you have estimated by reading a spec sheet?

Re: Looking at air con, all advice welcome.

At least if you buy a Fujitsu you know you are buying a market leader in every area.

Re: Racism and Spain.

Isn't that where positive discrimination starts? Yes Mr. Policeman I know I was breaking the law but if you punish me I'll report you for racism.

Re: Racism and Spain.

That's subjective. I think many Spanish people see that as a joke rather than racist. Most British see it the other way. There's another example here...

Re: the dream has finally arrived

This is exactly what I mean. You live south of Alicante and you are being defensive. By the why my Father-in-law lives on the coast side of Montgo 2 minutes drive from Denia centre in a beautiful 3...

Re: Racism and Spain.

The title is wrong. English and Spanish are both from the same race therefore whatever discrimination there might be between them is certainly not racism.

Re: the dream has finally arrived

Ok, I don't want to be accused of being a troll (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)) so I'll just say this, if I were to say the "chalk and cheese" thing to a Brit from the North Costa...

Re: Looking at air con, all advice welcome.

Amazing! If Mikado is so great why does the installer need to mention Fujitsu as a sales aid? If it's the same as a Fujitsu why not just fit a Fujitsu.

Have you seen the advert? "Niños, un poco...

Re: family allowence

You pay for a pension while you are working and claim it once you retire, it's not a social benefit. As for the poor thing having to pay it back, well if she wasn't milking the system in the first...

Re: New Sky Cards - confirmation

Why is it that some websites are more concerned showing other people's bad work than their own "good" work. Why not thrive on your own reputation rather than other people's shortcomings.

Re: Money saving tip for those with a wood burner.

If you are using an axe to split wood no wonder you have sweat pouring from every orafice. You should be using a maul, or a splitting wedge. Axes are for cutting across the grain, not along it.

Why do you want a British school? Personally I'd go for one of the bilingual/trilingual schools.

As for English schools one option (apart from the British School, Alicante) is the Newton School in...
