Maybe we should do a thread on progress for a run (not my fave activity) - is there a Middle East marathon (or half) - good way to link it with your charity as well ??

There is the RAK half marathon in February. I am doing that one. My aim is to go sub 1h30.

Anyone else doing this?

My exercise regime will comprise an additional 10 mins a day standing on one leg throwing a tennis ball against a wall.

Horace goes skiing!

Seriously - don't ski with your knee in this condition. I completely screwed my ligaments and cartilage skiing - the binding was way too tight, it didn't release and my lower leg went about 300 degrees round while the top half didn't...

The possible rotation and also lateral stresses are going to be very very risky with your ACL not being right...

I would not do it.

PS I thought my leg was better and then tore all the ligaments a second time roller skating - same lateral motion, just snapped and went down very hard and fast....

But cycling really does depend on the type of knee injury darling. I never take on a new client with dodgy knees until they have seen my sports therapist so she can tell me exactly what we can and can't do.
I hear too often of so called P/T's training people without taking medical opinions and making injuries worse.

agree, i was referring to the fact that cycling is non impact on the knees. Of course if one has dodgy knees then specialist advice should be sought.

My ligament tore completely in 1989 and dissolved (hence ending my promising football career at 18). Have skiied since then and been to physio and use wobble board to get the muscles to act as if they were the ligament. Knee used to 'go' quite often in the early 90s as I didn't totally stop football but had an op in mid 90s to clear all the crap out of the knee. Been fine since then but skiing is probably the most stress I put on it hence the preparation.

Will update you from Salzberg A+E

I had one yesterday followed by an hours oil massage, then home for a wee nap. It was superb.
