Are you trying to suggest that those are the same person?

I'm prepared to believe the weight loss, but they don't even look alike facially.........??

Dean I could take offence at your remark but I wont, I can assure you that both photos are of me. First one is RAK New years Eve 2007. Other is Abras 10K Feb 2011 week before I ran Wadi Bih solo. I don't care about your views but your aspertions that i am a very far off tyhe mark.

i doff my cap. If you dont mind me saying, in the 'fat' photo, i would imagine that you were a pork pie away from an early grave.

In the other photo, you look great and i can only imagine the pain you went through to get from one extreme to the other. Fantastic effort. I really am gobsmacked.

i may see you at some running/triathlon events after the summer. Look forward to having a chat and to shake your shrunk hand ;-)

Fantastic - what did you change to change into your "after" - diet, exercise, both? any suggestions for the porkers out here?

Don't worry too much about BMI - it has become completely discredited, ever since the likes of Shaquille O'Neal were revealed as "obese"........

BMI is not at all discredited, for 99% of people it's a pretty useful measurement. The only place it falls down is with people who are at a decent level of fitness with a good amount of muscle mass and frankly anyone at that level should be beyond worrying about bmi anyway

But US life insurance companies, to make the same point, are no longer using it as a reliable measure, for that reason. It may have some validity as a way of gauging your own weight-loss progress, but official bodies are not really relying on it any more.

Height-to-weight ratio (which is similar but not identical) is often used.
