Quote of the week (heard in the canteen today from one of my Lebanese colleagues): "I will fast tomorrow as we are going to the company Iftar"

It is not me who suggest that he’s a loser, it’s what the Islamic faith formulas do, and that’s not just because he is disobeying the divine instructions, it’s more to do with him not showing any remorse about his sins. Just because there is no immediate retaliation from the creator to your wrong doings, certainly does not mean that you have managed to get away with it. It simply means that according to the system of Mercy that the creator has created, you are been given extra time to rethink and get back on the right path. And if you chose not to, then just wait and see how your story will unfold, your whole story that is, not just the minute part in this world

You assume (negatively) too much about everyone and your problem is, in your mind, that assumption somehow magically transforms into fact. Do not assume anything of anyone because then you start judging people and there's only one of those. What I do or do not do in my life is my problem and my grave. I think you should worry that your kids do not grow up to be as negative as you, although I doubt that.

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite (or try to find faults) in each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear God ; indeed, God is accepting of repentance and is merciful.

More than a little presumptive of you to speak on behalf of your god. I am fairly sure that's frowned upon.

Anyway, Ramadan.
I heard today that we get one or two days off before Eid starts; anyone got any further information on this? I'm really hoping they're not just getting my hopes up as it's my first year here...

I knew we get that week off (I've booked my holiday to start then because of it). But people are telling me that we'll probably be getting the 15th & 16th off as well.
Fingers crossed they're not winding me up, anyway...
