So, you are not British, certainly not an Expat - Why are you on this bored again?

So you think you have the authority to make statements on morality based on comments on a faceless forum? Get real....

1 We agree fully that each person has the right to follow whatever religion he or she wants to. But it is unreasonable to force other people to comply with some aspects of a religion which they do not follow.
2 Drinking alcohol in moderation is, on balance, not harmful.
3 The Middle East is not an open market.
4 Most, if not all, Middle Eastern countries are highly dependent on foreign workers, especially western workers who bring professional and managerial skills. Without those skills most Middle Eastern countries could not develop.
5 The rest of the world does not "need" the Middle East, but there is a need for its oil. Once the oil has run out, or the need has gone, very few westerners will want to be in the Middle East.
6 We (ie British expats in general) do not need the Middle East, but many of us are happy to be here because of a combination of a) good, untaxed salaries, b) a pleasant way of life in general which is upset from time-to-time by things we consider illogical.

Oh come on, that's being obtuse. She's asking Expat76 to ask himself why he's there, ie he needs Qatar to earn a living.
