The language of use for this site is to be English only. Any "discussions" on this site should be in English, and any "discussions" comprising of a different language (or excessive text speech) will be removed. Exceptions to this rule are small one line inclusions of when it is deemed appropriate: such as language questions/discussions in the Italy forum, for example.
This goes for all of you barely-coherent ramblings.

For me this is the most frightening thing, that there is such complete and utter apathy from locals, especially young ones, to challenge the established order in any way. Unfortunately it would seem that they have been bought off by hand outs and brainwashed by a religious doctrine which they don’t admit so many of their elders and peers openly flaunt.

It would be disrespectful if I sat in front of someone who’d been fasting all day and purposefully eat and drank. But, any non-muslim eating or drinking in a hotel or mall restaurant where they would not be seen be a muslim, unless they purposefully went there, is not disrespectful, and neither would it be to do so discreetly in a more open public area.
As a muslim don’t you find it disrespectful that non-muslims drink in the UAE? If so, would you rather that stopped and they (along with their skills and disposable income) stopped coming here, which many of them would? Or, as there is money to be made from allowing it are you happy to let that one slide?

I really hope the oil in the Middle East runs out in my lifetime.
Apart from oil the last great export from the region was Islam, before that frankincense.

So kick us all out. Why openly disregard your religious beliefs so we come here, prop up your economy and spend money?
Built many walls? Plumbed in a bathroom? Serviced a car? Cooked a meal? Looked after a child? Carried out an operation? Project managed a construction site? Designed a building? Flown a plane?
The horse racing industry in the UK would be worse off that's for sure.

I'll try to make this simple.
In Dubai, Ramadan falls in summer - its hot, very hot.
It's illegal to eat/drink in public.
That does not make for a healthy combination.
I'll admit I'm here for the money, like many other foreigners (and that includes the low paid, mistreated labourers) I'm needed here, without us this place would fall apart. Literally.

Now, now, Chechen Turks have brought many useful developments to the world, such as, well, umm, ahh, well, Oh! War! Nah, that's not a new development. Umm? Anybody?

Whilst logic says I should just give up...I just can't help myself.

Whilst I'm not a fan of a group-beating mentality when it's most of us on the bored vs one or maybe two....in this instance, it's perfectly acceptable.
