Re: CV Classics
-----------------------------------------------------------------
^ That's me drawing a line.
Got another over the phone;
Candidate; "I'm sorry I am calling you about this job for project in Saudi Arabia"
Me; "No problems, I'm looking at your CV right now, you've never built a Water Treatment plant, Waste Water Treatment, in fact, any water projects. My client is looking for these two specific types of project experience...however, I've got your details and you'd be good for this other role...(explains in great detail the job he's spot on for)
Cand: "But sir I want to work on Water projects"
Me "Why? When you've only ever built high rise, hospitals and schools?"
Cand: "Because I have a dream that I will become more technical engineer"
Hands up anyone here who has changed their entire line of work because they had a dream they were better than / different to how they were?

Me. Started out in construction in the UK, saw an opportunity to work in heavy engineering in Japan. I used the same basic skill set, but in an entirely different industry and environment. Many engineering skills are transferable--one friend who'd I'd employ at the drop of a hat is a trained electrical engineer, did a PM masters, now a Snr PM for a mechanical engineering company.

edit: And I have seen plenty of jobs that state 'must be presentable' which is the PC format for, we'd like you to be good looking. (This obviously equates to successful)

I found out whilst working in the UK that business do send out your cv with your picture on it. Odd, as they'd never hire anyone themselves who did so for a job..

Re: CV Classics
This was on a covering letter to what is a very good CV;
"The Trendy Manager is known as economist or a business planner"
