Re: Burka Ban
Is it not the case that France is a democratic country, and they have voted in favour of this law therefore it should stand?
If the vote had said the veils were OK, then that would stand too.
Women in Saudi cover their heads (from all religions) as it is the law there - albeit not democratic as we know it.
In my opinion, if various religions (not just Muslims) want the perks of living in what we see as democratic countries then they should accept the outcome of such cases.

There is no law to cover your head in Saudi and as I said before plenty of women (mostly foreigners) do not cover their hair, and thats in Riyadh where I used to live.

I had mentioned that once it became law of course you must follow it. I just didnt agree it should be law.

So this non existent law is not enforced at all.lol
Thing is, IF a law is brought into being by a democratic country, then this is obviously the wish of the majority of people who live there. ( People who are not citizens of said country can think what ever they wish of it...)
Those who are not happy with it, can use democratic means to oppose it. As simple as that.
People have to understand, democracy works both ways..apparently they did not realize that...up till now.

True, there is no law for Non Muslim women to cover their hair. Alas, if one does not, you know what happens? One gets majorly harassed by the "Righteous" (muttawa).

two wrongs don't make a right. what gives any bucknut politician or policeman the right to tell anyone what to wear ?
Will French brides be allowed to wear a veil ?

I have a question for the men of the bored (sic).
Women cover their hair/faces as an act of modesty, so as not to be tempting to me. Does it not offend you any way that it is presumed that you have little self-control and may act inappropriately if you saw these women's hair/faces?

On the other hand, those who have created the rule maybe know themselves...
As for taking offence: neither foes nor loving friends can hurt me

Re: Burka Ban
nope, just treating the cause of the problem.
It's the same in strict Catholicism - only allowed 2 inches of flash below the collar bone and must always have you hair covered in church - so as not to distract the men from their prayers, poor souls, their minds wander so uncontrollably, so easily...
