I believe this pic is of a British soldier. Humour in the face of adversity, a true British trait.

The sense of humour is a major part of what makes Britain Great, the ability to laugh at ourselves and not take ourselves seriously.

What made Britain Great was the Empire and that has gone like snow in the Spring. Well, London still has Gibraltar, the Falkland Islands and Dependencies, Tristan da Cunha, St Helena and British Antarctic Territory. Has London signed away tutelage over Diego Garcia ?

I disagree. I think the Empire was just a by-product of Britain's greatness, rather than what actually made her great.

Absolutely right, Britain would still have been Great regardless of the Empire and is still Great without it. I think for some that really sticks in the craw.

You don't think we could still run it all, do you? How would that work in the modern age?

from the Telegraph

"Alex Salmond said that the term Great Britain bore no more significance to this country than ‘Scandinavia’ does to countries like Norway and that England and Scotland would be “close neighbours, great buddies” after separation. “The state we currently live in is not Great Britain, it’s the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. ‘Britain’ won’t disappear as a geographical expression no more than ‘Scandinavia’,” he said.

November 26 is fast approaching

Just the Britons? What about the Anglo-Saxons, Normans, Vikings, Celts and Romans? I'm sure I have left a few out :D

Point of order. The Britons (also known as Brythons) were a Celtic people group. Therefore you should either remove the subsequent Celts or, better still, say other Celtic groups (or similar).
