I just love it when hypocritical "English" people start denigrating Aussies and Australia and then complain about the "racist" Aussies. Pot, kettle and black are three words that spring to mind.

http://www.aph.gov.au/Hansard/reps/dailys/dr311006.pdf

It comes up with a sentence about some Aussies do not value the fact that they come from the greatest country on the face of this planet

So - makes you wonder doesn't it?!
Yes I agree Oz is the greatest country on the planet, not perfect, but the best by far of any country I have travelled to. Yes there are a piss heads with no brains, have you not ever met a CHAV, now theres a group of people England should be proud of. BTW what is so great about the UK, apart from the British pubs? I keep scrolling down this thread trying to find reference to some???? Funny, nothing much on offer. People just want to Aussie bash like they are living in some kind of hell hole, well the joke is on you because I think you are all suffering from a severe case of sour grapes.

It's dry and dusty here in southern Spain, but certainly not boring and the people are SOOOO friendly and welcoming.

I'd be interested to hear more points of view!
You may not like my point of view, but I'll give it anyway....

Was born in OZ and left as a teenager, after 24 years of living in Europe (various countries) am now back in OZ and cant see myself ever leaving again. Am glad I had the life/experiences I had but am totally enjoying being back home.

As a PS, I guess thats probably the same for most people heading back to their childhood country after 24 years.

PPS, the people in Perth are the friendliest I've met, with the exception of Glasgow & Istanbul (and I'm originally from NSW so no state allegence )

Wrong thread perhaps? This thread is about 'Moving Back from Australia' and the OP asked 'what is wrong with Australia?', not "what's great about the UK". Try the "5 things you love about the UK" thread that was around a while back.

l agree, they go on about how boring beaches, bbq's and sunny weather
every day is and how they miss Tesco supermarkets and British pubs,
If they think OZ is some sort of Hell hole l imagine how long they would last living in some third world African country.

You could argue the same about [some of] the people desperate to leave the UK. They don't appreciate what they have actually got. Their vision of the UK is one of living hell, hardship, that life is a constant struggle, a lawless society in disarray, etc.

Works both ways. Both countries have a lot to offer, just depends what you are looking for.

its very much a pioneer country still, and is very tough if you are not a born adventurer.
infomration is only given out after you have done the wrong thing..none before even if you do ask, and whenever you complain, they fall back on the old game of dismissing you as a "winging pome"

if i could come home i would, but reading the information about coming home on this webiste, it would be very difficult at the moment. ah well, lottos drawn tomorrow

Your experience of living in Oz may be different to that of others. (I assume from your comments that you have lived in Oz before...?)

Why should I not like your point of view?

As you say, Australia's your home, you are sure to feel that way!

I feel that way about my terraced house in an inner city street in an English Midlands city. Not as pretty as my house in Spain (tourists take photos of our Spanish house), but it's my home. It's where I'm tied to by an invisible rope. Can't do anything about that.

So I think your PS is probably right!

I'm glad you've come 'home' after all those years.

I think that the only reason we moan about the Aussies is because of this childish attitude that they seem to have that Australia is the best country in the world when many of them haven't even left the country. Most Aussies you speak to also defend their own State as being the best State in Australia - I just can't understand this need to constantly bleat on about how they are the best at absolutely everything - it's just silly and very imature really isn't it? You were brought up with it so are used to it - to an outsider, it is really very tiresome.

I mean how can one nation have the best country in the world, the best scenery in the world, the best beaches in the world, the best sportsmen and women in the world, the best looking people in the world, the best educated people in the world, the best coffee in the world, the best sense of humour in the world, the best food in the world Personally I think it's a completely arrogant attitude. I'm English and I wouldnt dream of insulting any other nation by bleating that my country is the best - I certainly wouldn't proclaim to have travelled to enough other countries to make judgement but even if I have I certainly wouldn't say it. Each country has its own good and bad points but unfortunately Aussies just don't seem to get this.

I've never been to Australia (or very many other places for that matter, although I live in Spain), but I think that England in particular could do with a bit more of this attitude instead of falling over ourselves to deny our culture and throw our heritage away. More of the 'Land of Hope and Glory' attitude.

I agree with everyword. No way in the world would I be so damn arrogant and rude. The thing is they are arrogant and rude!
