This pack thing is daft and getting a bit boring now. I couldn't see anything wrong with the comments that people replied to on Ezzies thread.
Ezzies made some really negative comments about the UK on a Moving Back to the UK Forum and would expect a bit of backlash from people who are thinking of and are very shortly moving back to the UK. I found some things quite silly and I think were a bit over the top and I for one don't believe half of it.
The family has been out of the UK for too long and I don't think they really want to be there from the sound of it.
We have seen and heard of loads of bad things happening here in Perth and I cannot see how they they haven't experienced it where they are living in Oz. Where they are living is just to good to be true!
We have been back to the UK every year in the 5 years we have lived here, kept in touch with family and friends, travel around to various cities so know them well and also have 3 family members who are teachers in the UK and they were quite amazed at some of things happening as wondered what school and village this was going on in as they don't have all that much trouble!
I enjoy reading the threads from Cricket1 and Fleaflyfloflum who always give good positive help and advice and I feel they have been unfairly picked on. I shall continue to enjoy reading their threads. I shall avoid watching that daft moving back programme when it's on in the UK!

I do expect to be picked on though. If you are prepared to say what you really think instead of wrapping stuff up in riddles then its agiven i suppose.

You lot are so behind... he was appointed MBTTUK pool boy ages ago. Do you honestly think i'd have him running about in here in his budgie smugglers looking like a knuckle dragging gorilla? ![Roll Eyes](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
And Jules... make sure you remove all your grubby hair from the ladyshaver before handing back... thankyou![Sneaky](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/sneaky.gif)

Well, I guess this thread had to descend in personal attacks at some point and not suprising it was from the same three people who bring every other thread down.
I've enjoyed all comments up to this point and have even enjoyed writing it (even though it's a bit of an effort to get up early to do so on these dark mornings). I know a lot of people...and mostly those who just read, rather than comment are getting something out of it. It's been great to hear different perspectives and totally brilliant to hear that what we're experiencing isn't necessary the picture everywhere in Britain.
I've always enjoyed hearing things 'as they are' from many individuals perspective, but making innane judgmental comments that I should 'go back to Australia' is destroying everything I hoped this thread would provide.
I would have thought by now that it was obvious that we love England, we're just pretty disappointed with some aspects of it. I would imagine that there's not many of us who could say otherwise. We, like many, want to return to the UK and are just sussing it all out - how feasible it is, how wise a move it would be and, importantly, where to move.
We love this village and I would not hesitate to live here, but my comments about the teens stand. If anyone's seen the film 'Hot Fuzz', well there's an awful lot of similarities there! What concerns me is that should we stay here in this village, whilst there's a lovely group of kids, how on earth would a teen who doesn't smoke or drink socialise when all the social events are based around getting smashed? I certainly did much the same when younger, but there was always a significant no. of groups who didn't. I'm not really seeing this at the moment in this area. If ever there was a place to run a youth group - this is it I reckon.
Anyhow, I really haven't the energy for putting up with personal attacks made under the guise of 'I've a right to say what I like'. I can either carry on writing or just leave this thread to fall into a list of vitriole like many before have. I'm just peed off because it's always the same few vocal posters that do this time and again.
I do thank everyone else who have brought such valued and interesting comments to this thread though - I've really enjoyed reading them, discussing ideas from them with my family and having a chuckle over some of the humour that can still be found even though we're all wrestling with difficult issues over where we want to be, or for some, not being able to be where we know we want to be.

I'd just like to say I've found your comments to be extraordinarily well-balanced and fair. You seem to be looking at both countries as objectively as possible. As an Aussie (albeit one that has lived half his life overseas), I don't feel offended by the less than positive remarks you make about my country because they are obviously honestly felt and I agree with some of them. There are things that could be better in Australia and I think you have put your finger on some of them.
I agree there are a couple of serially negative posters and I hope they won't put you off posting. I have a hard time understanding those people who seem to hate living in Australia but continue to live here when many of them could move back to the UK, if they really wanted to, but nonetheless choose to stay, claiming to be miserable. What a waste. I respect those that didn't like living here and have left.
My view is that life is what you make. I strongly believe anyone with the right attitude can have a happy and fulfilled life in almost any democratic, developed country. Maybe some of these serially negative people should spend some time in an impoverished third world country like I have done. They might realise how self-indulgent and spoilt they really are.
