Because other people you need to talk to in your job are not available
at the same times as you...

Utter hypocrisy.

Maybe you should practice what you preach, instead of wasting energy
running your air-conditioner.

So, then, why did you post this, in response to another poster who
uses a refrigerator:

Also, personal attack ("you should adopt a less decadent lifestyle")
noted, and particularly hypocritical coming from someone who whines
about such things.

Like people who run air-conditioning when it's unnecessary, for
instance. That's what you mean, right?

Not if the power isn't generated with fossil fuels.

There won't be any choice.

How do you explain international commerce, then?

Deep Foiled Malls writes:

Instead of everyone trying to go the same place at the same time twice a
day, traffic will flow in all directions at all times at a much lower
rate. It won't be necessary to build everything to accommodate peak
loads, and there will be less stopping and starting and pollution, and
fewer delays.

About 75% nuclear power, the rest from mostly fossil fuels and some
hydroelectric, I think.

I was illustrating the contradictions inherent in that argument.

See above.

I suppose so, although nobody has described running air conditioning
when it's unnecessary.

I'm not wasting energy. I use the A/C when I need to cool the
apartment.

What if you don't have any other use for it?

Many? I don't think so. Most hot climates are quite a distance from
water, otherwise they typically aren't that hot (or cold--oceans have a
moderating effect on weather).

Lots of luck trying to drive to the seaside in a fridge

First you say water is scarce, so it can't possibly be used for
refrigeration (despite evidence from the contrary), now you say there
is no other use for water. What is your point, exactly? (if one)

If there is a human community means there is water around, there are
not many skyscrapers or universities in the middle of the Sahara, you
know.
