Huge as it is, it can get *very* crowded, especially at the San Marco
end.

Whenever we visit Venice, which is usually every 2-3 years, we try to
stay as far away from San Marco and the Riva degli Schiavoni (which
can be even more crowded) as possible.

I have a new idea: Venice should organize boat tours of the city
departing from Mestre. The tourists wouldn't even have to get out of
the boat and they could carry all their trash back to Mestre. It would
probably satisfy many of the Asian tour groups and even some of the
others.

Anyone who didn't know what Asians were like might think your post
smacks of racism! Of course if such a plan was implemented, they would
all gladly pay the 20 euro just to be photoed(???) on the dry land.
