I sure did, I'd never ever again stay at the Holiday Inn

was available carparking, not price.
The Hotel Sirio was OK in le Mestre first time around and I
actually enjoyed the bus-rides to and from the old town.

Just so they take all the trash back to Mestre.
I don't think it's racist to say that Asians usually visit Europe on
organized tours. After all, Italians who tour outside of Italy (or
even in Italy) do the same thing.
Besides, you shouldn't be lecturing people about racism.
My husband and I sometimes go on tours (generally on the weekend) with
our local ski club, mainly because it's a really fun group. We made
the mistake recently of taking a tour with a different group. They
raced from place to place, and saw a lot of things just through the
windows of the bus.

The best time visit St Marks Square is at midnight. The last strains of
music coming from the cafes, and the revellers straggling home. In fact,
the whole city takes on a magical aspect after midnight, no one left on
the streets, just the sound of your own shoes echoing on the cobbled
stones, and cats vanishing into darkened alleys...

I consider myself the least racist person I know, as I can find
exceptions to every rule - unlike true racists, who are really just
ignorant/stupid.

I've only done one tour in recent years which was a walking tour of
Berlin, and it was one of the best things I've ever done. I should do
more, I know...

<snip poetic stuff>
Venice, like Prague, Paris, Rome, and every other touristy city,
should be appreciated at dawn - if only you have the strength to do
it.
Note that I hate photos with people in them, so am prepared to do
this.
