You got that all wrong, Buddy. I had travelled extensively throughout
the UK
staring in '68 until I got tired of it around there by the early 80's
and preferred going to Ireland or Australia if we wanted to be around
English speaking people. Maybe my ancestry has something to do with
that.

More recently however, my wife and I flew Philadelphia- Gatwick- Pisa-
Gatwick- Phl in June 2004. Stayed at overpriced Hilton Gatwick 2
nights before and after renting villa in Tuscany for several weeks.
Went PHL-LGW-Munich-LGW-PHl for New Year in Vienna Dec. 2003 with 2
nites Gatwick Hilton. We go regularly to LGW over the years only
because it is convenient from the US with a layover and then on to go
elsewhere.

When I am at LGW or LHR, I am out in the airport terminal usually all
day while my wife is usually resting in the hotel. Watching Brits and
other Europeans pushing and shoving to get going to and from "holiday"
is really a hoot there and one does see a good representative sample
of people from all over the UK. I will admit there is some improvement
over what I saw in 68 to the 80's.

I forgot to mention the proliferation of "nerd type" birth control
glasses
that many Brits seem to wear. Are they the fashion there or is it only
what NHS
provides?

people who chase round groups they do not normally have an
interest in are IMHO, er, "odd".

Poor old Pee-J - he's probably just a bit piss-ed off still about
having to spend a penny to ... err ... spend a penny. We won't miss his
visits, but I do enjoy his occasional .. umm .. contributions on the
spread of communism as evidenced by pay-for toilets.

BTW, why do some Americans get upset about pay-for toilets on
this ng?
I assume someone like PJ would be against "free" health care so
why free toilets?

You seriously think there's a logical reason? You jest. But Pee-J's
spittle flecked diatribes on the subject are almost as amusing as
Mixup's "Down and out in Paris and .. err .. Paris" sob stories.

It seems so.
Come on PJ, tell us if you contributed to funding murderers and
terrorists over the years? If so, how many children do you think
your money killed and maimed?

I think he took a dislike to me when he found that since I
hold both French and US citizenship I vote in both the
French and US elections. I think he is from California
so my vote (absentee) for Kerry (already sent off)
negated his own vote for Bush.

I must admit that in the last French presidential elections
I voted for Chirac over Le Pen, in the 2nd round. We had
voted Jospin in the first round.

I suspect PJ isn't too hot on fashion, when did you last meet
someone who had NHS glasses? I assume they do still exist?

Unlike many Americans, I rarely have a hamburger.

Since I drink plenty of coffee with breakfast and ingest sufficient
caffeine then, never drink coke.

Must confess there. As a former US Marine as a teenager did have to
fire M1 at Parris Island SC, Oceanside CA and then at a place called
Chosen, Korea for real.
    >drug using,
Closest I ever got to that was when I finally figured out what the
sickening sweet stench was permeating around downtown San Francisco
when I was there on business in the 60's. Haven't ever even seen any
and haven't smelled it since.

    >lardass.
This is the best one of all. I am 72 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall
and never
weighed more than 170 pounds. Never been called a "lardass" or
"fatass" in my life. First time for every thing.

ROTFLMAO!

When will England realize that it's opinion of the United States is
not wanted or needed in any way, shape or form? Grow up, we left YOU.
We do not NEED your permission for anything, and that GOADS you. We
are no longer your colonies, and it's HIGH TIME you accepted that
fact.

I think you have it backwards; UK air pollutes US! I can't go
walking in London a day that I don't come home to find my fingernails
BLACK, due to the heavy pollution they have over there. I'll quite
happily not visit there again, because I know I'm not missing
anything. Just a suggestion though: if you Brits took half as much an
interest in your own country as you seem to the US, you might have a
cleaner one!

While I'm at it, I'd like to mention that your "Times" newspaper
cavorts to the reading level of our "National Enquirer"; I was quite
surprised. I wonder if anyone over there could handle the wordiness of
the LA Times, not to mention the New Yord Times.

Any country that allows a journalist (I use the term loosely) to
call for the assassination of any President is disgusting. Just too
low for words. Please, stay an island unto yourselves.
