Supposedly, with the economy and the general displeasure of Americans
over the war, there's not as much eastward flights across the Atlantic.

Well if it's a boycott thing, it is silly.
But with the economy and the higher Euro, there are some reasons to
think twice.

Right, and I get emails from SNCF all the time, because I bought some
train tickets on their web site last year. I didn't know the French
Railroad arranged so many tours outside of France.

Literally, we got two WORDS. Not real explanations mind you, just
words. We went to Italy for 2 weeks. At least 2 other couples
delayed or cancelled and when asked we got the words "fear" and "concern".
Couldn't really get them to specify the focus of those two words.
I experienced nothing to justify either fear or concern.

Two of the first three responses I read were what I would call mindless US
bashing. "the bit about paranoid Americans" will serve for #3.

You've confused a lot. Internet may origin from America but it's
definitely complete international nowadays. And "this newsgroup" isn't
a pure American thing, just look around and you'll find people from almost
any country in Europe and many from other countries outside America.
I would estimate contributors here to be at least as many from outside US as
from US.
Doesn't matter so much as the topic is "travelling" and "Europe" , could be
to Europe but not necessarily.

lets hope so. In my wifes area new staff get less leave than
established, but the leave was *very* generous.

I agree with that -- he posted a number of good-natured comments that

Please cite a source for this info - otherwise I'm going to say "tosh"! The
Regs give an entitlement to leave, and a firm could be fined if they subject
the employee to a detriment because s/he asserts this right. Nor can the
employer bribe the employee not to take leave by giving a payment in lieu.
But there is nothing in the Regs to force the employee to take the time off.
Of course they'd be pretty daft not to........

while this country is very beautiful, it lacks culture. and being
